Marijuana Awareness Classes

Marijuana Awareness Classes

Marijuana Awareness Classes are designed to provide facts about marijuana, its uses, potential for abuse of the drug. The material covers history of the drug, the addictive properties of marijuana, its effects on the body and the brain, synthetic marijuana, youth and drug use, and the legal implications of marijuana abuse. The classes usually take four hours to complete and provided live, on camera, by a trained and experienced substance use disorder professional.

A Marijuana Awareness class is an excellent way to help people understand facts, potential risks and hidden dangers of marijuana, that potentially should help participants in making informed and responsible choices when it comes to use of cannabis. This course teaches people how to make wise choices and avoid potentially dangerous actions and its negative  consequences. The course will teach participants the truth about these drugs, the dangers they pose, and how they affect families. It will also tell them the legal and social consequences of drug use.

In many cases, this class will be recommended when people have gotten in trouble with the law or at school, while under the influence or in possession of the drug, but do not appear to have a substance use disorder. This education class on effects of marijuana and its use might also be required and accepted by EAP programs in cases of failed drug tests at a workplace.

The dual purpose of the program is to teach students how to avoid situations that can lead them to use drugs or alcohol, and how to change their environment. Students will learn how to recognize their core values and learn the consequences of their actions.

The class also teaches the dangers of marijuana, how the drug affects the body and brain, and the effects it has on society. It also includes topics about synthetic marijuana, youth use, and the legalization of marijuana. It is important to note that this type of class does not contain a drug screen, but focuses on gateway issues. The class is typically 14 weeks long and includes two scheduled individual appointments and an aftercare plan.
